When it comes to selecting styles and designs for Google Adsense ads that are going to be posted on your website most people often just choose the default style thinking that it is equal to any other styles. However this is incorrect! With a  few simple alternations you can increase your ad clicks by making your text-ads stand out and allowing users to read relevant ad information easier.

Choosing the right colours

From website to website the colours that should be selected will change as the websites theme or style will change. If you have a website that has a white background with no light colors then an ad style white background will blend in with your website. If you have a darker website then a dark background with a bright border may make your ad stand out and get you more clicks on your ads.

The Highly Attractive Style (Recommended Style)

Best Adsense Ad Color

The above style is what I myself use across a range of websites. At first I like most others believed that a style would not make much different to advertisement impressions and clickthroughs. After reading a few articles and experimenting with the above style myself I found this to be the best possible combination as it tends to attract users to your ad more than any other type of ad style.

Style Explained

Now let me tell you why this style is so effective.

Border (#FFFFFF)- The border is the least important aspect of the styling and should simply match the background colour of your website so that the ad piece fits into your website more nicely.

Title (#000080) – The title is the most important color you will choose as it shows the title of the ad which is the most interesting part of the ad. A user will look at the advertisements title and depending on the wording and color of the title he may click on it. A blue works best for this as blue is widely associated with as the ‘link’ colour. A dark navy blue has been found to improve revenue and get much more clickthrough’s.

Background (#FFFFFF)This part is not that important. You want this colour to match the background colour of your website or where the ad will appear.

Text (#000000) - Ideally, you want the text on the advertisement to be black. This is so it can be easily read and so that it matches other text on your website. You may decide to change the text colour to match your websites text colour if it is not black.

URL (#CCCCCC) – This is also important when choosing ad colours. The URL is the site that the user is going to travel to after clicking on the ad. It is preferred that the user knows where he is going as he may be resistant against a specific advertising network even though the ad may actually benefit him by providing him with useful information. We want this to be a low gray so it blends in with the advertisement and does not attract a lot of attention. Avoid the colours red and blue for the URL.

Conclusion

So if you are using the above recommend style or choosing your own colours remember to choose wisely as it can have a large impact on your revenue. Refer to the information above and tips below when choosing your Google Adsense colors.

General Tips

  • Don’t use bright colors that are hard to see.
  • Don’t use the curved corners option.
  • Ensure that the ad blends in with your websites theme.
  • Remember that an ads style is just as important as its position or the advert information itself!
  • Always look at the advertisement on your website every now and again to ensure it is the best it can look.
  • Don’t attract too much attention to the URL of the ad.
  • Try not to make the ad stand out ‘too much’ as this will cause it as being associated with spam.

AdSense also allows heading for “ad-styles” for a few month now, for most contrast “black / white” blogs, thats pretty OK :-)
If you have a high traffic site, you get a call from google to integrate it “seamless” into your page…

An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a friend who had been conducting a little homework on this. And he in fact bought me lunch because I stumbled upon it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending the time to discuss this topic here on your web site.
