Winter brings many skin issues mainly because of the cold weather, dry air and blustery wind, all of which lead to dry, flaky skin prone to acne breakouts. The good news is that there are several easy-to-follow acne skin care tips for the wintertime.

First, change your cleanser. Your summertime cleanser will not cut it for the wintertime because of the changing weather conditions. Your best bet is a milder formulation with gentle foaming action and hypoallergenic ingredients.

You may or may not choose to continue using your usual anti-acne products. See your doctor first before discontinuing prescription products so as to maintain your acne-free complexion even with the change in seasons.

Second, use herbal skin care products, too. Your sensitive skin will benefit from the natural substances in herbs like chamomile, rosemary and lavender especially during the wintertime. Just make sure to follow preparation and application instructions of these herbal skin care products to reap the most benefits.

Third, moisturize your skin as often as possible. This is one of the most sensible home skin care tips because the dry air can suck up the skin’s moisture within a few hours of unprotected exposure.

You need not slather on a thick, greasy and heavy moisturizer either. Your better option is a moisturizing gel and lotion instead of the moisturizing creams most often recommended by retailers. Just make sure, furthermore, that the moisturizing gel is non-comedogenic, which means that it cannot block skin pores.

Fourth, hydrate with water and fruit juices. You may feel less thirsty because of the cold weather but that’s not an excuse to stop drinking the recommended 8 tall glasses of water every day. Hydration is one of the most important acne skin care tips regardless of the weather so drink up to moisturize your skin from the inside.

Take note that the recommended hydration sources are water and fruit juices. Alcoholic drinks along with coffee, soda and sweetened powdered juices are not recommended because these beverages dry up the skin.

Of course, you should always apply the year-round acne skin care tips including eating a healthy diet, refraining from touching your skin one too many times, avoiding the temptation to pop your pimples, and getting sufficient hours of rest and relaxation. Keep in mind that keeping your skin flawless the whole year-round demands commitment to a healthy skin care regimen the whole year-round, too.

Good post. Consulting your doctor first before undergoing additional skin treatment might be safer. Thanks for sharing.
